It’s been said for years by nutritionists, doctors and even our own mothers, that the Human body needs at least 6-8 glasses of water in a day to function optimally and stay well hydrated.
However, we tend to overlook that our food intake can contribute to our water intake as well. In fact almost 20% of our daily water intake comes from certain foods that we eat. This is important to know as some of us who find it hard to consume the 6-8 glasses we should a day.
Here are a few delicious foods that can help you stay hydrated throughout the day:
A cucumber is 95% water. This is the richest vegetable in terms of water content. You can put it in your salads, make soup and even make some dip. It is also a great source of fiber and Vitamin C.
Strawberries are 91% water and a rich source of Vitamin C, fiber, antioxidants and folate as well.
Green peppers contain up to 93.9% of water, That’s a little more than their green and yellow variants. They are extremely rich in antioxidants and can be eaten as a snack with yummy dips, sliced up and added to salads and also be stuffed and enjoyed as a meal.
Cherry tomatoes make for a great snack and help keep you hydrated as well.
Contain 92% water and are a fabulous source of Vitamin C and other antioxidants.
