Carpeting that has not been taken care of or has not been cleaned regularly carries a ton of dust mites that will just make your allergies come to life. Try and avoid having wall-to-wall carpeting in your home and switch to hard wood floors or tiles. You could choose to have a few rugs around the house to liven up the place instead.

People who already have nasal allergies are likely to develop a reaction when they are around candles. The essential oils that are present in candles, which give them their amazing fragrance, are triggers for allergies. Watery eyes and a runny nose can be caused as much by a candle as by cigarette smoke to those who have a very sensitive nose.

If you love to have candles around you, you may have to try a few fragrances till you find one that irritates your nose the least.

Some people can develop some painful reactions to perfume. Headaches, sneezing and chest congestion are a few. When hundreds of chemicals combine with essential oils in perfumes they can affect people who are sensitive.

Soaps and Detergents
It is not the cleaning agent in soaps and detergents that irritate your skin, in fact it is the perfume additive that causes the reaction. The best way of dealing with this would be to avoid soaps and detergents that have additives and stick to organic varieties of the same.

Limes and Lemons
You may love the tangy taste of limes, but you may not realize that it is leading you to a runny eyes and a burning sensation in your nose. A large number of people are allergic to the zesty compound found in limes and lemons known as limonene. In fact, it’s not just consumption, even when you touch limes or lemons, you develop a cold or develop some irritation on your skin, you may be allergic to this compound.

It is important that you stay away from lemons if that is the case, especially when you are dining out. Be sure to mention to the waiter what your preferences are and that you do not want lime in your drink, marinade or even your salad dressing.

Spices, they simply make your dish delectable, however, their origin stems from pungent plants and may cause you to have a severe reaction. While some can bear the bare sniffling, others may suffer from swelling, sneezing, itching and burning of the lips as well.

A few common spices that are known to be allergy triggers are: poppy seeds, paprika, saffron, dill, pepper, coriander and cumin. If you are not aware of what spices you are allergic to, keep an eye out for those and make note.
