When you learn to know more about yourself, you will indeed be in awe of yourself. Most of us, even the best of us live not knowing how amazing we really are. If you were aware of the miracle that resides within you, you would not choose to do half the things that you actually do. You will not even want to hide the real self that you are.
Think of yourself as a baby. Look into your mind’s eye and see a photograph that captures a particular moment that makes you happy, that truly personifies you. It will help remind you that you are a truly precious being.
You did not have to tell yourself to grow up. Your body knows what to do, what track needs to be taken for your body’s perfect journey. Everything around us, in nature, has innate wisdom, we foster, grow and become who we are.
Now, look a little further, down to when you were two years of age. Think about the playfulness, the energy, the light that shone brightly in your eyes, every bone in your body, knew that you were absolutely wonderful.
For most people, things start to change between the ages of four and seven. The lights start to dim. You start listening to what people are saying about you and even start believing it a little bit. You start analyzing the look on people’s faces and start believing it. Then doubt creeps in, you start rethinking the person that you truly are. You start thinking you really are not that special, that wonderful or that worthy. Well, you do not really start thinking about it, don’t spend time sitting and wondering, but it remains at the back of your mind. Psychologists suggest that by the time we are seven, we start believing that we are not enough, we are not pretty enough, we are not smart enough, basically, there is something missing.
When we start harbouring these beliefs, it may start impacting out health. Especially when it comes to what our body looks like or should look like because the world thinks so. While some stop eating, others skip from one diet to another to try whatever they can to get in to shape and look a certain way.
It’s a good thing that we have so many choices, but when they emanate from a deficiency that may be present, that’s hard. If you wish to go on a diet, do so because it makes you feel happy, not because the world thinks you need to look a certain way. We need to be fully aware of the driving force of the choices we make because that will determine its outcome.
